Walk in Interview on 21.03.2016 at 10:30 a.m. for recruitment of Engine Room Petty Officers (Fitter) and Trainee Engine Room Petty Officers (Tr. Fitter) on Direct Contract Employment on SCI’s Owned and Managed Vessels at SCI HEAD OFFICE, SHIPPING HOUSE, 17TH FLOOR, CAFETERIA, 245, MADAME CAMA ROAD, NARIMAN POINT , MUMBAI- 400021, INDIA. SCI has planned to conduct walk in interview on 21.03.2016 for recruiting Engine Room Petty Officers (ERPO) and Trainee Engine Room Petty Officers (Tr. ERPO) on contract basis (30 nos of vacancies). Eligible candidates are requested to undergo through following instructions and appear for interview:
  1. The following requisite technical qualification is required for ERPO along with all necessary certificates and six months rank sailing experience. 1 Qualification: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from recognized polytechnic or National Trade Certificate in the trade of Fitter or Diesel/Motor Mechanic or Machinist or welder issued by National Council of Training in Vocational Trade, Ministry of Labour, Government of India (NCTVT) or by the Industrial Training Institute of State Government (ITI) OR Two years Trade Apprentice certificate from Government approved Shipyard in the trade of Fitter or Diesel/Motor Mechanic or Machinist. 2. Candidates should be proficient in any of these following for ERPO ranks: a. Welding and Gas Cutting. b. Fabrication and proficiency in fitting. c. Lathe, drill and other machine operation. d. Ship related maintenance work. e. Preference will be given to the candidates, who have worked and sailed on ships for six months or more as mechanical fitterOther requirement/ necessary documents:- a. Must be in possession of valid Indian Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC), Passport, Pan Card, INDOS No., Yellow Fever Vaccination & PCC (Police Clearance Certificate) with at least one year validity. b. Must have completed all required recent STCW courses and STSDSD from DG-approved institutes. c. Must have technical qualifications as mentioned above. 2 d. Must be medically fit for sea service as per present medical rules. e. Age limit for new recruitment is 45 years subject to medical fitness. f. Age limit for SC/ST candidates will be 50 years. g. Must be in possession of all required valid certificates for the rank. 4. Wages: The consolidated wages will be paid depending on the type of the vessel and years of rank experience. In addition, overtime shall be paid at actual hours as per NMB rate. The consolidated first year Gross Wages for a Foreign Going Vessel (tanker) will be Rs.45878/- per month @ Rs.1508/- per day (approximately) and overtime at actual hours extra at rate Rs. 73/- per hour less tax as per Income Tax Rules Selection Procedure :- a) On selection day, at given time, all applicants must muster/gather at SCI Head Office, 17th floor, Cafeteria . b) Designated officers from FP Dept. and Operation Depts. of SCI will be present in selection hall for selecting Petty Officers as per requirement. c) After verification of all documents and interview, selected candidates list will be uploaded on SCI website. Selected candidates will be sent for medical examination. d) After medical examination, medically fit ERPOs will be allotted to our various fleet vessels and subsequently posted on the vessels on contract basis, subject to completion of formalities (verification of documents, port formalities) etc. e) Names of selected candidates shall be published on SCI website. SCI does not give a job guarantee. Candidates will be called for medical and posting as per requirement/vacancy on the vessel. The list of the candidates selected and published on the website will be valid for six months from the date of publication.

Qualification : Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from recognized polytechnic or National Trade Certificate in the trade of Fitter or Diesel/Motor Mechanic or Machinist or welder issued by National Council of Training in Vocational Trade, Ministry of Labour, Government of India (NCTVT) or by the Industrial Training Institute of State Government (ITI) OR Two years Trade Apprentice certificate from Government approved Shipyard in the trade of Fitter or Diesel/Motor Mechanic or Machinist. 2. Must be in possession of all required valid certificates for the rank. 4. Wages: Candidates with requisite technical qualification, all necessary certificates and without any sailing experience will be recruited as Trainee ERPOs on contract basis. Such fresh candidates will be sent for one month ashore workshop training prior posting onboard. After workshop training, trainee ERPOs will be posted for onboard training for six months with consolidated stipend of Rs.10000/- per month. The trainee ERPO after sailing on SCI vessel for six months with satisfactory performance report may be promoted to ERPO rank for second contract. a. On selection day at given time all applicants to muster/gather at at SCI Head Office, 17th floor, Cafeteria. b. Designated officers from FP Dept. and Operation Depts. of SCI will be present in selection hall for selecting Petty Officers as per requirement. c. After verification of all documents and interviews, selected candidates list will be uploaded on SCI website. Selected candidates will be sent for medical examination. d. After medical examination, Trainee ERPOs, prior joining vessel will go through the fitter familiarisation course at our nominated academy for one 30 days. The course fee shall be borne by candidates and reimbursable after one year of satisfactory onboard service. e. Medically fit Trainee ERPOs will be allotted to our various fleet vessels and subsequently posted on the vessels on contract basis, subject to completion of formalities (verification of documents, port formalities) etc. f. Names of selected candidates shall be published on SCI website.
