The National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, is an autonomous premier institution (Government of India declared NID as an Institute of National Importance by NID Act 2014 of Indian Parliament) set up by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India, for design education, training, research and consultancy services in various disciplines of design. NID is a grant-in-aid institution under the aegis of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. The institute has campuses in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Bengaluru. The institute offers higher professional qualifications in several disciplines of design at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
NID invites applications from high caliber design educators/ professionals having relevant qualification & proven experience in the areas of design for the Faculty Positions at following levels;
- Associate Senior Faculty/ Associate Senior Designer
- PG or equivalent in Design or related subject + minimum 10 years of experience / UG + minimum 12 years of experience
- Pay Band: PB-3 –15600 – 39100 (Grade pay- 6600)*
Approximate gross emoluments at the minimum of the above Grade Pay
will be approximately Rs.68,000 p.m.
- The Institute may offer initial appointment on contractual basis for a fixed tenure, with consolidated/fixed pay commensurate with qualifications, experience, etc..
- Faculty/ Designer
- PG or equivalent in Design or related subject + minimum 3 years of experience / UG + minimum 5 years of experience
- Pay Band: PB-2 – 9300 – 34800
2 – 9300 – 34800 (Grade pay- 5400)*
Approximate gross emoluments at the minimum of the above Grade Pay will be approximately Rs. 53,000 p.m.
- The Institute may offer initial appointment on contractual basis for a fixed tenure, with consolidated/fixed pay commensurate with qualifications, experience, etc.
Faculty member at NID is expected to demonstrate a high level of academic and professional competence with leadership qualities; inclination towards design research, publication and professional practice; proven ability with technological tools and processes, and active involvement in academic governance. The positions are available under following Design Discipline. Preferred sub-specialisations are indicated therewith. Individuals having expertise in more than one subject areas shall be preferred.
1. Product Design (Materials & Processes, Form Studies, Elements of Design, Technically Complex Product Development, User Experience Design, Packaging, Rendering Techniques, 3D Visualization and CAD modeling, Digital Product Design, Design Ergonomics)
2. Furniture & Interior Design (Materials & Structures, Form & Space, Spatial & Interior Design, Visualization techniques)
