கடல் மேலே விமான நிலையம்!

விமான நிலையத்தைக் கடலில் அமைக்க முடியுமா? அதுவும் சர்வதேச விமான நிலையத்தை அமைக்க முடியுமா? ‘முடியும்’ என நிரூபித்துக் காட்டியது ஜப்பான். கடல் நடுவே செயற்கைத் தீவு ஒன்றை உருவாக்கி, அதன் மீது பிரம்மாண்டமான விமான நிலையத்தையும் அமைத்திருக்கிறது ஜப்பான்.

ஜப்பானில் கன்சாய் மாகாணம் உள்ளது. இங்குள்ள ஒசாகா கடல் பகுதியில்தான் இந்த விமான நிலையம் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த விமான நிலையத்தின் பெயர் ‘கன்சாய்’. உலகிலேயே கடலில் அமைக்கப்பட்ட முதல் விமான நிலையம் இதுதான். இத்தாலியைச் சேர்ந்த ரென்கோ பியானோ என்ற கட்டடக்கலை நிபுணரின் வடிவமைப்பை அடிப்படையாகக்கொண்டு இந்த விமான நிலையம் கடலில் கட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது.

விமான நிலையத்தின் மொத்தப் பரப்பளவு 4 லட்சத்து 53 ஆயிரத்து 993 சதுர மீட்டர். உயரம் 36.64 மீட்டர். ஒரு அடித்தளம், நான்கு மேல் தளங்களுடன் இந்த விமான நிலையம் கட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது. 1987-ம் ஆண்டு விமான நிலையத்துக்கான கட்டுமானப் பணிகள் தொடங்கின.

குறிப்பிட்ட பகுதியில் கடல் நீரை வெளியேற்றிவிட்டு, கல் மற்றும் மண்ணைக் கொண்டு நிரப்பும் முறையில் கட்டுமானப் பணிகள் நடந்தன. இதற்காக ஜப்பானில் உள்ள மலைக் குன்றுகள் தகர்க்கப்பட்டு மண்ணும் கல்லும் கொட்டப்பட்டன. இந்தப் பணிகள் முடிந்த பிறகு கட்டடம் கட்டும் பணிகள் 1991-ம் ஆண்டு ஏப்ரல் மாதம் தொடங்கியது. பணிகள் முடிந்து 1994-ல் விமான நிலையம் திறக்கப்பட்டது.

கடல் மேலே பிரம்மாண்டமாக அமைக்கப்பட்ட இந்த விமான நிலையத்தை உருவாக்க எவ்வளவு செலவாகியிருக்கும்? அந்தக் காலகட்டத்தில் 67 ஆயிரத்து 500 கோடி ரூபாய் செலவானதாம்.
