Applications are invited for two Research Trainee positions, for a period of one year
maximum (up to 31st March, 2017), in the research projects conducted by the principal
investigator (PI) Prof. Joydeep Bagchi at IUCAA. The positions are funded by the
IUCAA-NCRA Radio Physics Lab project (RPL) and are available immediately.
Eligibility Criteria
1. B.E./B.Tech degree by March 2016 in a relevant branch of
Electronics/Instrumentation/Electronics & Communication Engineering with 58%
aggregate marks (or equivalent) or more.
2. For the first position the candidate must have a proven track record and
practical work experience in Antenna Design, Radio Frequency (RF) circuit design,
test and calibration of RF circuits, and familiarity with radio communication
techniques, signal processing and data analysis is essential. A practical handson
knowledge of basic radio astronomy receivers and antenna design in this
area will be an added advantage.
3. For the second position the candidate must have a proven track record and
practical work experience in optical communication, opto-electronics, lasers and
polarized light optics, and familiarity with high fidelity optical communication
methods, modulation/demodulation theory and signal processing is required. A
practical hands-on knowledge of basic astronomy and electronic circuits related
to astronomical observations will be an added advantage.
4. Good oral and written communication skills in English.
Offer
● The job is offered strictly for a period of maximum one year (up to March 2017).
● Monthly fellowship of Rs. 12,500 (fixed).
