Towards Advocacy, Networking and Developmental Action (TANDA)

Towards Advocacy, Networking and Developmental Action (TANDA), a Field Action Project of

Centre for Criminology and Justice, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai is working with Nomadic and Denotified Communities (NT-DNTs). TANDA works towards “creating self-reliant

NT-DNTs and ensuring the realisation of their constitutional and entitlement rights, as citizens of

India”. TANDA strongly believes that NT-DNTs should organise themselves to advocate for their

rights and dignity. The project aims to play the role of a change agent through generation of knowledge, capacity building and networking with different stakeholders on relevant issues towards policy advocacy. 

TANDA will be undertaking a research study on Violence against Nomadic and Denotified communities and would be looking at state atrocities against this group from December 2014 and

is looking for a candidate to work in the research unit of the project.

Tenure: December 2014 to May 2015 (total 6 months). The contract might be extended in

accordance with the needs of the project and depending upon the performance of the candidate. 

Remuneration CTC: Rs. 20, 000/- to 25, 000/-per month (depending upon work experience) 

Required Qualification and skills:

o M.A. in sociology, social work, social sciences or allied disciplines preferably with 2 years of

work experience in the field. 

o Ability to work independently in rural areas and strong field orientation. 

o Willingness to travel extensively. 

o Strong interest in research and good writing skills. 

o Excellent command over written and spoken English. Knowledge of Marathi is important.
