சூரிய மண்டலத்துக்கு அப்பால் 1,284 புதிய கிரகங்கள் கண்டுபிடிப்பு

சூரிய மண்டலத்துக்கு அப்பால் 1,284 புதிய கிரகங்கள் இருப்பதை, நாசாவின் கெப்ளர் தொலைநோக்கி கண்டுபிடித்து சாதனை படைத்துள்ளது.

சூரிய மண்டலத்தைப் போலவே, அதற்கு அப்பால் பல சூரிய மண்டலங்கள் உள்ளன. பரந்துபட்ட விண்வெளியில் உள்ள பல சூரியன்களை அவற்றுக்கான கிரகங்கள் சுற்றி வருகின்றன. அவற்றை அமெரிக்க விண்வெளி ஆய்வு நிறுவனமான நாசா அனுப்பிய கெப்ளர் தொலைநோக்கி தொடர்ந்து ஆய்வு செய்து வருகிறது.

இந்நிலையில், சூரிய மண்டலத்துக்கு அப்பால் 1,284 புதிய கிரகங்கள் இருப்பதை இதுவரை கெப்ளர் தொலைநோக்கி கண்டுபிடித்துள்ளது என்று நாசா அறிவித்தது. அவற்றில் 9 கிரகங்கள் தங்கள் சூரியனில் இருந்து பூமியைப் போலவே சரியான தூரத்தில் சுற்றி வருகின்றன. அதனால் அங்கு சரியான தட்பவெப்ப நிலை, தண்ணீர் இருப்பதான வாய்ப்புகள் உள்ளன. உயிர்கள் வாழக்கூடிய சூழல் இருப்பதாக தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இதுகுறித்து வாஷிங்டனில் உள்ள நாசா தலைமையகத்தின் தலைமை விஞ்ஞானி எலன் ஸ்டாபேன் கூறும்போது, “இந்த கண்டுபிடிப்பு, நமது பூமியைப் போலவே விண்வெளியில் கிரகங்கள் இருக்கும் என்ற நம்பிக்கையை அதிகரித்துள்ளது” என்றார்.

கெப்ளர் தொலைநோக்கியின் புதிய கிரகங்களின் கண்டுபிடிப்புகள் குறித்து கடந்த ஜூலை 2015-ம் ஆண்டு பட்டியல் தயாரிக்கப்பட்டது. அப்போது மொத்தம் 4,302 கிரகங்கள் இருப்பது தெரியவந்தது. அவற்றில் 1,284 கிரகங்கள்தான் உண்மையில் பெரியதாக இருப்பது உறுதி செய்யப்பட்டது. இவற்றில் 550 கிரகங்கள் பூமியை போலவே அளவு மற்றும் பாறைகள் நிறைந்தவையாக உள்ளன என்று நாசா தெரிவித்துள்ளது

Applications are invited for one post of Project Assistant in a project UGC/BSBE/2015424 at the Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering, IIT Kanpur. The appointment is purely temporary & on contractual basis.

Salary Range: Rs. 9000-900-18000 (consolidated)

Minimum Qualification: B.Sc in life sciences or allied area

Desirable Qualification: Two years of experience in a biology lab. Knowledge of accounts and purchase procedures is needed. Additionally, prior experience of project and administrative work in IIT Kanpur would be preferable

Only short-listed applicants will be called for an interview. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualification and work experience will not be called for the interview.
