The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) is an autonomous academic national institution of the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India dedicated to research in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Allied Sciences & Technology. The Institute has its main campus in Koramangala, Bangalore and CREST Campus at Hosakote, Bangalore. It operates field stations at Kavalur & Kodaikanal in Tamilnadu, Gauribidanur in Karnataka, and Leh/Hanle in Jammu & Kashmir.

Educational Qualification : M.Sc (Physics) with minimum of first class from a recognized University. 

Work Experience : Minimum of three years experience as Research Trainee or JRF or equivalent in a leading national laboratory or Institute in Physics, using optical and spectroscopic instrumentation having electronic data acquisition systems. Excellent skills in computer programming for data archival and analysis on UNIX platform. Proficiency in using IDL Software for data handling and analysis for research in Astrophysics are desirable. 

Job description: To work on the Kodaikanal Digitized data comprising of white light, Ca-K and H-alpha images as recorded from Kodaikanal over 100 years.
